Those who make the Tawwaaf of the House of Allaah [Ta'aalaa] complete their tawwaaf by reading two rakaats of salaah at the Maqaam e Ibraaheem. During the physical term of the Holy Prophet Muhammad [Sallal Laahu Alaiehi Wa Sallam] when he took all the stone figures of the idolaters out of the Holy Ka'bah and its precincts, he retained the Maqaam e Ibraaheem. All other stones and rocks of worship were removed but the rock that was the Sign of Risaalat was retained. Allaah Kareem says in the 2nd Soorah, al- Baqaraah in verse 125:
وَاتَّخِذُواْ مِن مَّقَامِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ مُصَلًّى Appoint for yourselves a place of prayer on the standing-place of Ibraaheem... |
Maqaam e Ibraaheem علیہ اسلام– Station of Hazrat Ibraaheem [Alaiehis Salaam] Assalaam o Alaiekum! In today’s program we will discuss Maqaam Ibraaheem. Our Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is such a personality that wherever soles of his blessed feet touched these places became Holy and sacred. Respecting these places is obligatory and they are the places of prostration for believers. In the holy Quraan Allaah Almighty says,
“When Ibraaheem [Alaiehis Salaam]was constructing the foundations of the House, along with Hazrat Ismaaeel [Alaiehis Salaam] supplicating: “Our Lord accept (this service) from us! Indeed, You and You alone -are the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing!” (Soorah Al-Baqaraah – 127). This verse shows that this is the place which has been mentioned by Allaah [Ta’aalaa] regarding Hazrat Ibraaheem and Hazrat Ismaael [Alaiehis Salaam] MAQAAM means the place to stand. Hazrat Ibraaheem [Alaiehis Salaam] was constructing Ka’bah, Hazrat Ismaaeel [Alaiehis Salaam] was helping his father by bringing stones. When the walls reached a certain height it became difficult to fix stones above Hazrat Ibraaheem [Alaiehis Salaam] hands, therefore he asked Hazrat Ismaaeel [Alaiehis Salaam] to bring such a stone on which he may stand in order to construct the wall. Hazrat Ismaaeel [Alaiehis Salaam] brought a stone, Hazrat Ibraaheem [Alaiehis Salaam] stood over it; by the order of Allaah Kareem that hard stone became as softer as flower under his feet, so his feet got into the stone until his ankles. When Hazrat Ibraaheem [Alaiehis Salaam] wanted to climb up, that stone raised up and vice versa. In the Holy Quraan Soorah Aal e Imraan verse No 97 Allaah Almighty says, “In it there are clear signs: The Station of Ibraaheem! Whoever enters it is secure” I will return back to Soorah Al-Baqaarah verse No 125, “Make from the Station of Ibraaheem a place of prayer.” No doubt prostration will be only for Allaah, but Allaah Kareem loves that place for prostration which had been touched by the feet of His beloved. The foot of Hazrat Ibraaheem [Alaiehis Salaam] got imprinted into the stone and despite passage of hundreds of years that sign is still preserved. When Prophet Muhammad ﷺ entered Baiet Ul laah after conquering Makkah, he specified the place of the stone so Hazrat Umar Farooq [Radiyal Laahu Anhu] fixed this stone on its current place. Just imagine that how many times Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would have visited that place and placed his sacred feet over that place and prostrated here. When a loving believer visits that place and he imagines the relation, the feet of Hazrat Ibraaheem [Alaiehis Salaam] and then the feet of Hazrat Muhammad ﷺ. A believer would visit these places with great love and respect. His soul feels tranquility and he thanks Allaah Kareem. Now days this stone has been placed in silver bowl with a crystal glass from which pilgrims may see it. This is the place where Imaam stands during the prayer because Allaah [Ta’aalaa has ordered in the holy Qur’aan to make this a prostration place. May Allaah Kareem bless us to make this a place of our prostration by visiting that place…excerpt- Meraay Sarkaar Kay Qadam Pouhanchay- Hazrat Allamah Kaukab Noorani Okarvi |
